Insurance Rates – How to Compare Rates and Find Cheap Insurance Online

It is very easy to say that comparing rates and quotes is the best way to find affordable insurance. Most of us presume that the mere act of comparison is enough to identify the best deal. That is a gross oversimplification of the entire process. There are many points that must be considered when comparing rates and estimates. Read ahead and find out more.

- If you compare the top six insurance rates available and if you grade them from most expensive to cheapest, then you can quickly find the deal that charges the least in terms of money. However, this process is dependent on a very important point- the six estimates in your hand must be the cheapest ones available in the market. How can you be sure of that? You will have to analyze each and every plan offered by insurance companies to determine the top five or six plans.

Needless to say, this task is so tedious and so cumbersome that people simply give up even before the task begins. People give up and choose any five or six plans at random and presume it to be the best plans available. You should make use of multiple quote comparison websites. You can then be certain that you have found the top five or six plans.

- Affordable insurance is one thing. However availability of insurance at low rates because of poor quality of service is a completely different thing. You cannot sacrifice quality of service at the altar of cost. You will have to make sure that you get the cheapest deal offered by the best insurance companies. Here also, multiple quote comparison web sites help you out. You can check the number of insurance companies that the site has tied up with. You can choose whether you want to get estimates from the companies listed on the site before submitting any information.

These two basic points must always be considered if you want to find affordable insurance that will provide benefits for years to come. This approach is the best one because you do not have to pay even a single cent to enjoy this service.

The High Cost of Cheap Insurance

Most folks who apply for house insurance ask the same question. Can you get me a better price? For them, this is the deciding factor on who to place their coverage with. The reality is, Insurance Companies are in this to make money, so they all tend to remain competitive in order to stay in the game. Regionally speaking, you should only find about a 10% or so difference in premiums across the board.

So why do we buy insurance? There are two main reasons. The first is to cover our property in the event of a loss. Secondly, it’s to protect ourselves against our unintentional, negligent actions. Consider what every insurance company asks you when you apply for home insurance. These questions are usually asked even before any details about the size and style of your home.

-How close is your home to a fire hydrant and/or fire hall?
-What type of wiring do you have -circuit breakers or fuses?
-How about the heating?
-What type of plumbing?
-What is the age and material of the roof?
-Have you had any claims in the past five years?

All these things “qualify” you for insurance and play a role in determining your eligibility for an insurance policy. They also affect how you’re rated for premiums.

So why do insurance companies ask these questions? The likelihood and severity of a loss resulting from one of these specific situations is great, particularly if your home is older and your services haven’t been updated. The cost for repair or replacement can be huge after these types of losses, and insurance companies want to be sure the that risk is minimal before offering coverage.

The frequency of which you’ve made claims is another important consideration. Most companies won’t offer you a policy if you’ve had more than 2 claims in three years, as they feel that you’re careless and consider you a bad risk. This is why it’s important to avoid making smaller, nuisance type claims, as you just never know when a big one might come your way. If you’ve already made one or two small ones, making another one will jeopardize your eligibility.

Insurance policies don’t cover everything. I recommend that you buy the best policy available to protect one of your most valuable assets…your home. The basic policy covers different things, including:

- The main building (your home)
- Detached private structures (such as a fence, garden shed, greenhouse or gazebo)
- Personal property (which is usual to the average home)
- Additional living expenses (which protect you after a loss which makes your home uninhabitable)
- Liability coverage (which includes voluntary medical payments, voluntary property damage coverage and worldwide personal liability insurance)

All companies will cover these basics, but they’ll all have their own built-in “features” or “special limits” which separate them from their competitor. Keeping this in mind, some of the questions you should ask are:

- What’s not covered?
- What will I have to pay in the event of a loss?
- How will this affect my insurance policy?
- Who do I call in the event of a loss? What if it’s in the middle of the night? Is there a number to call?

Each area or region has different concerns. In my region, one of the biggest concerns is water damage. Yet policies are different, and offer different coverage options. It’s important to understand what your policy will and will not cover.

Bursting of frozen pipes is becoming a very real concern, particularly with the changing weather patterns we’ve seen. Areas that never saw freezing pipes are suddenly finding this happening with increasing frequency. Will your policy cover those pipes if they burst in an unheated portion of your building? Most won’t, but some will.

Damage from water can amount to tens of thousands in repair bills. So let’s say you had a policy that didn’t cover this, and if you’d spent only $30 more you’d have this coverage. That $30 savings suddenly doesn’t seem like such a good deal after all.

What sort of deductible does your policy carry? Some folks like a low deductible, the lower the better. The fact is, you’re paying extra for this deductible, and if you haven’t made a claim in years, you’ve probably already paid the difference between a low deductible and a higher one. Do my premiums go up if I make a claim? The answer to this is usually, “yes,” though more and more companies are offering “claims forgiveness” if you’ve been claims free for a number of years.

If you want to save money, consider increasing deductibles or removing some of the “frills” coverage, such as reduced glass breakage deductible. This will save you money instantly. As I mentioned earlier, I strongly recommend against making smaller, nuisance type claims, since they’ll adversely affect your rate and more importantly, your eligibility for insurance. Making a claim costs you not only the deductible (in most cases), but also a savings on your premium (in most cases). Save your insurance for the bigger losses. Understand what you’re paying for with the extras, because sometimes, the cost vs. the likelihood of a loss or the replacement of that article doesn’t make sense.

It’s a good idea to go to the insurance company with a list of questions that are of concern to you based on where you live; that way you won’t forget to ask them all. Make your decision based on what is needed to protect your assets, regardless of the premium. Don’t make your decision based solely on price. In the event of a claim, it’s the coverage that matters more.

Insurance History and Online Quotes – Get Cheap Insurance Even If You Have a Bad History

The basic concept underlying your insurance history is no different than your credit history. The only difference is that the latter deals with your financial past while insurance history focuses on your past as far as various types of insurance is concerned. This concept is technical and so difficult to understand that ordinary individuals may end up with a poor history without even knowing it.

Such persons often find their car insurance rates rising higher and higher until it becomes completely unaffordable. It is only when they use the World Wide Web to do research do they realize that they are forced to pay higher premiums because they have a bad car insurance history.

What causes automobile insurers to classify you as a high risk customer? There is no universal formula for the same. Things that you consider minor and inconsequential may be the reason why you have a poor insurance history.

o A single high speed crash
o A few missed premium payments
o An instance of submission of wrong data

Once the damage is done, it’ll take a very long time for you to improve the same. Does this mean that you will have to wait for years for affordable car insurance? Definitely not! What you should do is to take advantage of the intense competition between car insurance service providers. Some insurers may be prepared to take high risk and may charge high premiums. On the other hand, some insurers may be prepared to take the risk of covering your car just to have your business.

How to find out which company is prepared to take high risk and which company is not? Just make use of multiple quote comparison websites. The estimates offered by different insurance companies shall be on your screen in a span of a few minutes. Those insurers that charge a high premium consider you as a high risk while those that offer inexplicably low premiums are prepared to take the risk to earn profit.

No other option helps you overcome your problem of poor insurance history without waiting for years or spending thousands of dollars in excess premiums.

Best Ways to Change You Current Insurance Into Cheap Insurance

These financial times have been tough on both drivers and car owners alike. The past few years, we’ve seen insurance steadily increase. Even car insurance has gotten expensive. Because of this, insurance companies have come up with ways to make auto insurance accessible and affordable for the first time driver. Changing premiums and policies have been harder to obtain by drivers already with insurance. Here are the best ways to change your current insurance to get affordable insurance:

  • Get safety devices such as anti theft devices, air bag features, and motorized seatbelts. Although most new cars already have these features, it’s a good idea to get additional safety features. Not only is your car safer but you can also avail of discounts on car insurance for having safety features.
  • Apply for multiple car discounts. Having two or more cars on a single coverage can cost less than having two separate insurance policies per car. It is even possible to have two cars on the same policy for the price of just one car. Check with your insurance company to be sure of the discounts and promotions that they offer.
  • Choose a yearly policy. Sticking with yearly policies can extend your savings on your car insurance. Having a yearly policy instead of a six month policy insures that your policy won’t change for a year instead of it changing every six months. This makes for a much more efficient policy and a less problem with paying your premiums.
  • Check your Mileage. Having low mileage, or miles your car has used, can qualify you for many discounts. If you only use your car to get to and from work, you probably have low mileage. Also having miles that you only use for work can drastically lower your car insurance rates.
  • Many insurance companies give discount car insurance for being affiliated with certain companies and organizations. These organizations can range from college fraternities, credit card unions and social clubs. Call you insurance company and see if you qualify for these company discounts.
  • Avoid lapses in coverage. Having lapses in coverage can disqualify you for any discounts so make sure you pay your insurance bills on time so you can avail of any and all discounts you qualify for. Having lapses in coverage not only disqualifies you from discounts but it also allows your company to increase the price on your premiums.

Simple Ways to Get a Cheap Insurance Rate

It is a legal requirement to register your car. Due to modern lifestyles most people are pressed on time and it’s on that point that the state has come up with simpler ways of renewing your car registration e.g. online and mail. On the other hand people are also required to renew their auto insurance annually, but unlike car registration when it comes to the renewal of auto insurance many people do not put the same level of involvement in the process. This lack of engagement makes a lot of people miss out on all the new opportunities to save money.

A vital tip that you should do over and over is to check your rates against the industries standard on a continuous regular basis. This can also be done by getting quotations from other companies and checking if your company is offering the best rate. Why you should do this is because companies tend to increase their rates as time goes by. For instance if you check with the four largest insurance companies it is possible to note that either one of them will offer a lower rate than the one you have currently. This happens because these companies are competitors and hence need to attract customers. The rate might go as low as 23% lower than your current one.

If you have a car loan, then check your balance. It is better you pay it off so that you will be able to drop the collision and comprehensive cover that you are required to pay for.

Most insurance companies associate drivers with their credit reports. An excellent report equals a good driver and vice versa. Need a little help in making your credit report better? Go to the Internet and get free information on how you can do this.

Securing An Adequate Cheap Insurance Medical Policy

No matter how healthy your lifestyle, how wisely you plan your diet or how much you exercise in an effort to take care of your body, unexpected situations may arise. You may land in the hospital with bills that could potentially wipe out everything you own. Thus it is extremely important to acquire an adequate insurance medical policy that will take care of your expenses in case of just such an emergency.

Everyone needs at least some form of health insurance. Some people are concerned about qualifying for an insurance plan especially if they have health issues. There are so many options available and although some are not easy to find, they can be quite simple to qualify for.

Before signing up for a plan, consider your family’s medical needs and budget requirements. There are basically two types of plans to consider, a private plan and a government plan.

Types of Coverage

The private plan is commonly obtained through employment. Most employers will offer some form of insurance for their full time employees. In some states employers are required to provide insurance if the employee exceeds a certain level of hours worked during the course of a week. Often times the employer will offer some sort of group health plan for their employees which decreases the monthly premium costs. Normally this type of plan will cover your spouse and family. Many people may not be able to participate in group plans. There are many individual plans are offered although they may be a bit more expensive in relation to group plans.

If you are going to sign on with a private plan learn all you can about the coverage in the contract. Read all the inclusions and exclusions and avoid signing up with a plan that has a long list of exclusions. Also make sure you obtain a copy of all the paperwork you sign.

Health insurance offered by the government is generally on a state or national level. One example would be Medicare which is a national plan. Medicare is available for those people over 65 years of age and also is available to disabled people. Some other types of government assisted health care plans include Medicaid which is based on income level, health and care for veterans and children’s health programs.

Do Your Homework

In general, it is very important to be covered, no matter what plan you qualify for. Research your options and search the internet. Many websites offer price comparisons for different options and policies. Check out what coverage options are available to you, get quotes and don’t forget to read the fine print.

Cheap Insurance For Leaner-Young Drivers

One of the most expensive parts of learning to drive can be insurance. For young drivers the cost of insurance often far outweighs what your car may be worth. Unfortunately as a learner drive you are perceived to be very high risk (especially males!).

Getting the right cover

  • It would seem sensible that third party insurance would always be the cheapest but this is not always the case so double check.
  • If your car an alarm or immobilizer find out the make and model as decent alarms can bring down the premium.
  • Do you have a garage or driveway you can park in? This may reduce the price compared to parking on the street.
  • Beware of monthly payment plans. The car insurance company will normally just loan you the money at an inflated price. If you can’t afford to pay in full get a 12 month 0% credit card and use this to pay in full.

Your own policy or with the parents?

If often cheapest for learner drivers to be added to your parents insurance policy. However this comes with some disadvantages. Firstly if you need to make a claim this will push up the cost of your parents policy. Secondly you probably wont earn any no claims bonus so when it comes to getting your own car insurance its really expensive. While this is normal the cheapest option its still worth getting quotes for your own policy and even if you have to shell out in the first year it will bring the price down in years to come when you may not live with your parents anymore.

Getting the best deal

Comparison sites allow you to search through a host of insurers to find to best deal but all comparison sites cover slightly different providers so it pays to try them all. Even if you think it may be cheaper to get put on your parents insurance it’s always worth getting a quote as you never know!

However by taking the pass plus course which teaches you more advanced driving techniques such as night and motorway driving you can lower your premium by up to 35%. Some local council’s may subsidize the cost of your pass plus course by up to 50% making it hugely worthwhile.
